RCI's Summer 2021 Internship Program Adjourns, Leaving Interns Well Equipped to Begin Careers

At RCI, we understand the importance of developing future talent within our niche industry of commercial landscape and construction. RCI is dedicated to aiding students within the communities of our operating locations and beyond to find a place to cultivate their talents and apply their classroom knowledge. This is why the team at RCI has developed a robust and paid internship experience spanning ten weeks and reaching each of our company’s divisions.

RCI offers interns hands on experience in all divisions: landscape maintenance, landscape construction, hardscape construction, estimating and landscape architecture. Employees at RCI work hard to ensure valuable learning experiences for all interns. During the ten-week internship program, interns develop necessary skills, a strong work ethic and knowledge to begin a successful career in the field.

Interns obtain real-world experience by observing and assisting with real time RCI projects. Cameron Casso, Austin Means, Edward Ott and Alex Costello participated in the 2021 RCI Internship Program. As the internship ends, the interns reflect on their valuable experiences with RCI:

Cameron worked on the HERE Apartments project in Tuscaloosa, as well as the Ochsner Cancer Center project in Covington. “RCI offered me an amazing opportunity to be able to learn and grow alongside some amazing people. I was taught several valuable lessons as well as developed a stronger work ethic over the past few months through labor and helping the superintendents whenever needed. I owe a lot to this company to allow me to learn all of the things I did.”- Cameron Casso, Summer 2021 Intern.

Austin worked on the Four Seasons New Orleans project. “RCI’s internship program has allowed me to expand my knowledge in the construction industry more than I ever expected. It has allowed me to apply what I have learned in the classroom to real world experiences. This experience has exposed to me a wide variety of tasks, and the superintendents have allowed me to be involved and take ownership beyond what I anticipated. This has allowed me to grow and gain more confidence in my abilities for the future. This internship was a fantastic experience for me, and I am grateful I was given the opportunity to work for RCI.”

Edward Ott assisted with the Asurion project in Nashville. "My internship with RCI has proven to be both a great learning experience and a perfect opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge I have acquired in school. This position allowed me to be engaged and challenged in the different aspects of hardscape construction. I’ve gained firsthand experience of the different methods and tools needed to compete in this industry. To top it off, I learned a good bit of Spanish and met a whole new group of great people. I can assure you that over the course of this internship I have been provided with new skills, new friends and a summer that I will never forget."

Alex Costello worked on the Splash RV Resort and Waterpark project in Minton, FL. "My favorite thing about my internship for RCI this summer was the people and the unique challenges provided by some of the work they do. Everyone I've encountered has been more than happy to answer any questions that I have and make sure I understand what it is that we're doing. There are always problems to be solved and it was valuable experience to see how some of those problems were overcome. Another reason I enjoyed my time with RCI was because of how accommodating and willing they were to work with me to make sure I got whatever experience I wanted."

“Rooted in Tradition. Growing the Future.” At RCI, we prioritize growing and shaping the future of the landscape/ construction field. A crucial element of achieving this is providing necessary training and education to young professionals. Thank you to our 2021 summer interns for your hard work and dedication. We hope that you value your experience with RCI and we wish you the best of luck in your future career!
